This work was published in the important large portfolio (18 x 13 inches) entitled "Les Ateliers de Chagall" (the studios of Chagall) in 1976, which was created to celebrate Chagall's love for printing, especially lithography. They were sold out as soon as they were released to the public. The publisher, F. Mourlot, in Paris, produced 250 complete folios numbered on the Colophon. This piece was created earlier in his career, and it was rendered by his colorist, Charles Sorlier, with Marc Chagall's instruction and supervision in lithography especially for this important publication. The folio has French text written by R. Marteau about Chagall's many studios at home and throughout Paris. Also included were loose sheets of his many printing techniques; linocuts, engravings, lithographs, and pochoirs, all housed in a specially designed light-grey linen over board solander box with gilt lettering on the spine. Printed & Published by Mourlot.
