At age 16, Dore surprised the world with his vast imagination and drawing ability. He became the most successful illustrator in history. The Saint Bible seires of woodcuts have inspired set designers and moviemakers. This particular folio was the catalyst to the Romantic Art Era. This is the first time a double volume portfolio has been brought to the West Coast. It can be found in the Museum of Fine Art, Boston, Metropolitan Museum, and the Vatican Library.
