I am a native Japanese speaker and have recently retired after a full career English Language Translation. I worked for 30 years in technology/engineering as a Japanese language specialist for Japanese/English. I also hold a masters degree in Linguistics and have taught Japanese language at the college level.

I have been working in language engineering/technology area of the information industry for a long time. The main focus of the work that I have been doing is to capture, analyze and understand how people use the language in writing and talking. Language is a living thing which is situated with our history, culture, and life. To learn such a complex system, you need a good guide.

Based on your needs, the contents of tutoring will be adjusted to achieve your goal effectively. The range of my service covers conversational Japanese in beginner, intermediate, business conversation levels, Japanese reading/writing for basic educational level (Kyoiku kanji), daily use level (Joyo kanji), higher literature level with student’s needs for business oriented or culture oriented styles.

Hajime is available in-home and in local public locations. He is available in Redmond weekday evenings and flexibly in Seattle on weekends.
