Tasting notes
Sourced from three of the most revered vineyards in Washington State – Ciel du Cheval, Kiona, and Boushey – Ruckus is a rock ‘n’ roll syrah: deep purple, iron (maiden) fisted, yet textured like velvet from the underground. Its smoky, sexy profile offers gobs of blackberry, spiced plum, woodsmoke, and white pepper aromas and flavors. Dense and brooding, it is stout of stature, and oh so pure. Designed for this very moment, but possessed of a structure that will persist and develop for many, many years.
Food pairing: Classic French country cassoulet, vegetarian Shepherd’s pie
Movie pairing: Pulp Fiction
FOUNDERS’ NOTES:
Once upon a time there was a syrah called Stella Mae. As demand for syrah began to taper off a bit, we decided in our third vintage to align our girls' wines on either side of the Gironde, even though it is nowhere near Woodinville in the name of family harmony. So, in 2006, we made Ruckus, our Red Mountain syrah blended with a touch of cabernet sauvignon.
