Tasting notes

Blackberries, wild cherries, plums, violets and vanilla head up the attack (love that notion), leading to sultry black fruit flavors of plum, bing cherry, blackberry and on to baking spices, a kiss of sweet oak and mint. Finely textured tannins and mouthwatering acidity propel the Outlaw along its loooong and beautifully balanced finish. Enjoy for a generation or more.

Food Pairing: Lamb burgers with boursin or eggplant and porcini Shepherd’s pie.

Movie Pairing: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

One of the Three Original Wines, Outlaw was a single barrel of merlot from Hedges Vineyard in 2004. The wine was made to honor Kelly's Dad who suggested that we start a family business when we found out we were going to be parents. Outlaw is not necessarily produced in every vintage, having been released from 2004-2007, 2009, and 2014-2015. Because merlot is so damn delicious, we think the producers of the movie Sideways are on their way to hell.
