Tasting notes:
The 2018 Preposterous is seriously focused, concentrated and muscular. Floral on the attack with blue fruits, spice notes, dark chocolate herbs and dusty minerals. Its textbook fruit bomb/smoky earth mouthfeel is layered with tightly wound tannins and a uniquely old world feel this vintage. A bit bashful right out of the gate, it blossoms with plenty of time in the glass/decanter (like a couple hours!). We look (with great anticipation!) for this story to unfold over the next decade (or two).
Food Pairing: Garlic honey smoked duck or Roasted crimini mushrooms wtih Maytag blue cheese.
Movie Pairing: Apocalypse Now
FOUNDERS' NOTES:
Preposterous was launched in 2009, a complete shot in the dark. Malbec is a strange thin-skinned on the outside, neon green eyeball on the inside kind of grape that goes black in the fermenter on day three of the fermentation. Kind of odd. Wine Spectator 94 point 2010 vintage is still the highest scoring malbec in Washington State history. Preposterous.
