Although Raoul Dufy received a traditional education at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, his influences were drawn from Impressionist Landscapes, Fauvism and even Cubism. It was not until the 1920s, however, that Dufy developed his own distinctive approach. This involved skeletal structures, arranged in a diminished perspective, and the use of light washes of color put on by swift brush strokes in a manner that came to be known as stenographic. Today, Dufy is regarded as one of the greatest 'Post-Impressionist' artists, carrying forth the tradition of painting the impression of light and color in a single moment in time. This collection of works from the Eau de Vie series is scarce and in pristine condition. Printed by Daeger Freres, Paris.
